'Deception Ignored' marks a bold turning point for German thrashers Deathrow, showcasing a dramatic shift from their earlier raw thrash roots toward a far more technical, progressive sound. With the arrival of new guitarist Uwe Osterlehner, the band pushed the boundaries of their genre, crafting a complex and ambitious record that stands as their most critically acclaimed effort.
Unlike the more straightforward aggression of their earlier albums, 'Deception Ignored' is built on intricate song structures, odd time signatures, and extended compositions. Tracks like "Events in Concealment" and "Triocton" highlight Deathrow’s willingness to experiment, blending speed and aggression with almost cerebral arrangements—drawing comparisons to the likes of Coroner, Watchtower, and even early Metallica circa …And Justice for All.
