Released in 1984, Heavy Metal Breakdown is the debut album by German heavy metal band Grave Digger, and a key release in the early wave of German metal. Raw, loud, and unapologetically heavy, the album captures the rough-edged energy of a band eager to make its mark on the burgeoning European metal scene.
While the production is raw and unpolished—adding to the album's underground charm—it’s packed with enthusiasm and primal force. Lyrically, the album sticks to classic metal themes: rebellion, power, and the love of loud music. There’s little subtlety here, but that’s exactly the point.
