Forged in Athens’ underground, ROTTING CHRIST have spent almost four decades shaping the sound and spirit of Hellenic extreme metal. From primal black metal origins to ritualistic, melodic grandeur, their evolution remains one of the genre’s most compelling trajectories.
Originally released at the cusp of a defining era, ‘Der Perfekte Traum’ captures ROTTING CHRIST in a state of transformation. Bridging the melodic darkness of ‘A Dead Poem’ and the atmospheric depth of ‘Sleep of the Angels’, this rare EP offers a glimpse into a band reshaping its identity. The haunting title track, performed in German, stands as one of their most unusual and hypnotic compositions, weaving gothic textures with industrial undertones. Alongside it, “Moonlight” leans further into melancholic, dark rock sensibilities, foreshadowing the band’s future explorations. Completing the release, a selection of raw live recordings revisits the intensity of the ‘Triarchy of the Lost Lovers’ era, preserving the band’s visceral stage presence in its most unfiltered form.
Now reissued, this edition presents a long-overlooked chapter of ROTTING CHRIST’s legacy, essential for dedicated followers and collectors alike.
