SKYFORGER RELEASE NEW ALBUM “TEIKAS” TO CELEBRATE 30TH
ANNIVERSARY
Latvian Folk/Pagan Metal legends SKYFORGER mark three decades of heavy metal with
the release of their long-awaited new studio album, TEIKAS (Folktales), out May 2025.
After a decade-long wait, SKYFORGER returns with TEIKAS, a powerful collection of
songs inspired by the myths, folklore, and ancient tales of Latvia. Unearthing these timeless
stories from the depths of their homeland’s cultural memory, the band has reshaped them into
a thunderous new work that brings the past roaring into the present.
Frontman Pēteris Kvetkovskis explains:
"The days of fables, tales, and stories being passed down from generation to generation are
long gone—and that tradition won’t return. Fortunately, so much of it has been written down
and preserved. With this album, we wanted to transport the listener back to those mythical
times when gods, spirits, devils, witches, and werewolves walked among us—and when
sacred sites and strange powers were part of daily life here in Latvia. These stories are our
heritage."

Founded in 1995 from the ashes of doom outfit Grindmaster Dead, SKYFORGER forged a
unique sound by blending Pagan, Folk, Black, and Heavy Metal, infused with stories from
Latvia’s ancient past through to World War I. Their lyrics explore a rich cultural
tapestry—heroic legends, mythological beings, and sacred rituals.
Over the last 30 years, SKYFORGER has released eight albums and performed in over 35
countries, earning a reputation as Latvia’s most iconic heavy metal export. Their passionate
live shows and dedication to cultural storytelling have secured them a revered place in the
global Pagan Metal pantheon.
