If you are a connoisseur of hard rock and traditional heavy metal, then you should note the name Wings Of Steel. The band’s first two albums, »Gates Of Twilight« (2023) and »Winds Of Time« (2025), made a huge impact on the scene. Wings of Steel was formed when vocalist Leo Unnermark and guitarist/bassist Parker Halub met while studying music in Los Angeles. They both shared the same vision and musical influences and began working together to create and refine their musical sound and style that would eventually become Wings of Steel. 2019 was the year the two started writing songs together, but the band Wings Of Steel did not really exist before the release of their self-titled debut EP in 2022. “There are many, many different influences that helped to shape our sound,” explains singer Leo Unnermark, who is not fond of attaching a label to his band’s style, “the music speaks for itself, words alone cannot do it justice. But some words that could begin to describe it include: expressive, epic, heavy, dynamic, heartfelt, electric, flashy, classic yet modern, bluesy, energetic, genuine.” Sometime in 2024, Wings Of Steel got in contact with High Roller Records to sign a licensing deal for their work. Originally issued as a private pressing by the band in 2022, the mentioned self-produced debut EP now sees its first-ever proper international release. Singer Leo Unnermark explains: “We had already talked with several larger European labels but didn’t want to sign a full licensing deal and risk losing ownership of our music. However, High Roller was excited to work with us to distribute our albums on CD and vinyl in the EU, so we could still be our own label. This is the kind of arrangement we had in mind and we are very glad we were able to find a mutually beneficial way to work together.” Regarding the re-issue of the band’s debut EP via High Roller Records Unnermark adds: “We are very proud of our early studio releases. Of course, we have grown and improved in many ways since then. But given where we were at when we produced them, we know that we made them as good as we possibly could have at that time, which is the most important thing for us.“
